In India, work permits or employment visas are issued to skilled professionals or to people immigrating to fill a certain position in a particular company. Unlike Indian business visa, Indian work permit allows a foreign national to reside and work in India. Indian work permits can be extended in increments of one year as per the requirement, unlike short-term Indian visas such as tourist visa.
