When Indian medical education is being treated at par with international standards, there is not an iota of doubt about its quality of education. What’s more! It is marked with continuous upgradation in the system by Medical Council of India (MCI). There is no dearth of aspirants either, who seek admission in MBBS or BDS, in this article we would like to focus on the AIIMS MBBS Entrance Test.
The institute of national importance, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi conducts AIIMS MBBS Entrance Test for the aspirants to get into the under graduation level. The examination is held on the 1st June every year with the session commencing in August, the same year. The application forms for the test are available at all State Bank of India (SBI) branches all over India and should be submitted by the end of February.
Eligibility Criteria for National Students
Aspirants who have passed 10+2 or an equivalent examination with a minimum of 60 percent marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English (50 percent for SC/ST/Orthopedic Physically Handicapped) or whose results are likely to be declared by the first week of July, after the AIIMS MBBS Entrance Test in the same year – can appear for this test.
Also, he should have attained the age of 17 years as on 31st December for the given year of admission.
The number of MBBS aspirants who appear for this exam varies from 70,000 to 80,000, which itself defines the position of the AIIMS MBBS Entrance Test among the various entrance exams being conducted for medical courses.
Eligibility Criteria For Foreign Students
Foreign nationals who wish to take admission in MBBS need not fill the application forms rather should apply to the Government of India through their diplomatic channels (Ministry of External Affairs and Indian Council for Cultural Relations) instead of AIIMS. The aspirants nominated by the government are required to have a minimum of 50 percent in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English in their Intermediate Science or an equivalent examination for admission.
These foreign aspirants are not required to appear for the AIIMS MBBS Entrance Test.
Five out of 50 seats are reserved for the foreign nationals, whereas seven and four are allocated to SCs and STs, respectively.
