Profession as dynamic as Engineering is witnessing potential growth in the employment opportunities when compared to the average ratio for all occupations. College graduates with a degree in various specialties of engineering fetch better pay packages. Faculty of Technology, University of Delhi conducts Combined Entrance Examination (CEE) for budding engineers of Delhi who aspire to join Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) and Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT), two esteemed technical institutions of Delhi.
 
Under the faculty of Technology, DCE offers Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in the disciplines such as Electronics and Communication, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Production and Industrial, Computer, Polymer Science and Chemical Technology, Environmental, Information Technology, and Bio-Technology.
 
NSIT provides engineering education in Electronics and Communication, Computer, Instrumentation and Control, Manufacturing Process and Automation, Information Technology, and Bio-Technology.
 
There is 15 percent reservation for the applicants of DCE/NSIT from outside Delhi region (Outside National Capital Territory of India). These applicants are shortlisted on All India Merit Basis considering their AIEEE scores in the year of application.
 
Eligibility Criteria
 
For CEE, candidates should have passed 10+2 or the qualifying examination, with minimum 60 percent aggregate, of any recognized university (should be located in National Capital Territory of India) in 2008 or 2007 or should be appearing in 2009.  The qualifying examination could be:
Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi
Indian School Certificate Examination (12-year Course) of the Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi
B.Sc. (General) Group ‘A’ Final Examination or equivalent examination of the Delhi University
B.Sc. (H) Examination in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics of the Delhi University with combination of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and equal weightage to the subsidiary subjects or equivalent examination
Any other examination recognized as equivalent to the Senior School Certificate Examination of the CBSE by the Delhi University
 
Applicants must have passed English at 10 or 10+2 level to be eligible while applying for CEE.
Applicants must be minimum 17 years of age on or before the first of October in the year of application for CEE. At the time of admission, only the candidates who have the approval of Vice-Chancellor are given one-year relaxation.
 
Structure of the Exam
 
CEE is three hours’ duration exam, which comprises of multiple choice questions and covers Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics as per the standard of SSCE (CBSE).
 
The sale of application forms and bulletin starts in March each year with CEE being conducted at the end of May and results being declared after the following two weeks of the exam
 
Conclusion
 
Aspiring engineers should have keen interest in Maths and Science with good problem solving, communication, and team-building skills to excel in this particular field. Although job opportunities vary widely with each specialty, the domain constantly evolves with the advancement in science and technology.
